Food Hygiene

If you have been involved in any food preparation in your life, you will have had to implement some element of food hygiene if you want to enjoy good health and a long life. The type and extent of food hygiene you will need to implement depends very much on what you are cooking, how you are cooking it, and what environment you will be cooking it in. If you are cooking outside for example, it can be hard to counteract every possible element of dirt and bacteria that could come from the environment, and as such it would be a good idea to be as clean as you possibly can with your tools and the food itself to try to make some sort of effort. It can also be difficult if you are working with people who may not implement food hygiene quite as well as you might be able to, such as children, old people and those with mental disabilities.

Most food hygiene is easy to implement, especially if you have the luxury of a large, well-equipped and contained kitchen. It is not a good idea to have pets or children around when you are cooking, as pets can leave hairs and germs in surprising places and children often prove to be a distraction from cooking, which can lead to accidents. Before you start any preparations, you should clean down all the surfaces that you will be using during cooking, as doing this beforehand means that you can guarantee cleanliness while you are cooking.
